From what Ryan Bader can remember, he had no idea what Quinton “Rampage” Jackson wanted at Bellator 226 this past Saturday night.
Bader was exiting the cage after a no-contest was declared between himself and Cheick Kongo for the heavyweight title. The event aired live on DAZN from the SAP Center in San Jose.
As the former Ultimate Fighter winner was moving towards the back, though, he was confronted by Jackson. The two fought at UFC 144 , with Bader – who is also the Bellator light heavyweight champion – earning a victory over the former UFC light heavyweight champion via decision.
“I was walking out and there was this big, fat guy there where the gate opens,” Bader said. “He said something like, ‘You did (the accidental eye poke) on purpose.’ And then he’s trying to fight me.
“I didn’t even know what was going on.”
Bader and Kongo was stopped after Kongo could no longer compete due to the eye poke. Jackson and Kongo have trained together in the past.
As for a possible Bader vs. Jackson rematch, “Darth” is down, saying “it would be super heavyweight,” and adding “it would be easier than the Kongo fight.”
