Chick-Fil-A Will Have Its Day In Court Over San Antonio Airport Ban

Chick-fil-A just got some big news. Five supporters of the Christian restaurant chain filed a lawsuit against the city of San Antonio, Texas over its decision to ban the chain from opening up a location in the local airport.

Chick-Fil-A Supporters File Lawsuit Against San Antonio

Fox News reported that back in March, city council officials rejected Chick-fil-A’s bid to open up shop in San Antonio International Airport. Officials cited the company’s alleged “legacy of anti-LGBTQ behavior.” Last week, plaintiffs Patrick Von Dohlen, Brian Greco, Kevin Jason Khattar, Michael Knuffke and Daniel Petri fired back by filing a lawsuit. They filed their suit against the city under S.B. 1978, which is also known as the “Save Chick-fil-A Bill”. This law protects religious freedoms and bans the government from taking unfavorable action against a business or person for contributing to religious organizations.

“The continued religious ban on Chick-fil-A by the San Antonio City Council has left citizens with no choice but to take this case to court,” said Jonathan Saenz. Saenz is the president of conservative group Texas Values Action.  “Any other vendor that tries to replace Chick-fil-A at the airport will be doing so under a major cloud of long and costly litigation with the city.”

Justice For Chick-Fil-A Over Airport Ban

In their lawsuit, the plaintiffs called on the court to officially declare that San Antonio’s airport ban “violated and continues to violate” the law. They also want the court to issue an injunction. The injunction would block the city and airport shop operator, Paradies Lagardère, from banning the chain in the future.

On top of that, the plaintiffs would like to have another injunction issued. The second injunction would allow a Chick-fil-A to open at the airport. Lastly, it would  stop the city from “taking any adverse action against Chick-fil-A or any other person or entity, which is based wholly or partly on that person or entity’s support for religious organizations that oppose homosexual behavior.”

San Antonio Responds

Laura Mayes, chief communications officer for the city of San Antonio, responded. She described the lawsuit as “an attempt by the plaintiffs to improperly use the court to advance their political agenda.”

“Among the many weaknesses in their case, they are trying to rely on a law that did not exist when Council voted on the airport concessions contract,” Mayes said. “We will seek a quick resolution from the Court.”

The bigotry that Chick-fil-A faces from the left for being a conservative Christian brand is beyond sickening to watch. Liberals are so desperate to take Chick-fil-A down simply because the restaurant tries to be a good Christian business. The San Antonio airport ban is just one example. We hope that this lawsuit against the city of San Antonio is a success. And that Chick-fil-A gets the justice from its day in court that it deserves!

His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
