WWE Releases Possibly Over

Chris Jericho Says WWE Releases Are Done Because Of All Elite Wrestling

Wrestling veteran and arguably AEW’s biggest star Chris Jericho recently spoke on Busted Open Radio on a number of subjects. He takes a shot a WWE’s Vince McMahon, stating how he is having talent that request a release sit on the sides and to still be paid to avoid jumping ship.

“You know how it works up North, brother,” said Jericho. “If you fall out of grace, you’re finished being played with as Vince’s toy, you get put in the corner.”

According to Jericho, Shawn Spears was the last case of someone being granted their release. Since being released, Spears has been in the main scene of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), taking on Cody Rhodes at All Out after an unprotected chair shot at their last event.

“Thankfully, Shawn got his release,” said Jericho. “He’s the last one that will. Nobody will ever get their release from WWE again. Nobody. He got his release, Cody and him are friends. Cody knew what he was capable of. I knew what he was capable of. I championed to get him. The guy is a tremendous heel. He’s an old school heel. He looks the part.”

Cody vs. Spears a one of the major attractions for the next pay per view. Jericho praised Spears as a main eventer as he prepares to battle Cody at All Out on August 31. Jericho will take on “Hangman” Adam Page to crown the inaugural AEW World Heavyweight Champion at the same show.

“Putting him with Tully Blanchard [at All Out] is a great idea,” said Jericho. “He’s a main eventer. We’re going to make him into a star, just by putting him with Cody Rhodes.”

It will be interesting if anyone is in the corner of Cody; with his older brother Dustin Rhodes likely leading the rumor mill.

Buddy Murphy’s Physique

WWE’s Buddy Murphy landed in the Roman Reigns – Daniel Bryan & Rowan feud on luck. Fightful Select reports that people were shocked how big the former Cruiserweight Champion looked.

Now that Murphy is off 205 Live, he weighs in at 215 pounds. That is 10 pounds heavier than the limit for the brand and lighter than the 230 pounds he was in NXT.

Murphy impressed many with his loss to Roman Reigns and then at this week’s SmackDown by defeating Daniel Bryan. There could be big things, like a title reign, in-store for Murphy.
