Nate Diaz and Anthony Pettis never ended up fighting when the latter was ruling the UFC’s lightweight division, but now, here in 2019, finally the two are going to throw down.

Years of build-up

Back when Pettis was holding the 155 title, there was extensive buzz about “Showtime” fighting Diaz. The latter repeatedly fired verbal jabs at the champ, before and after Pettis submitted Diaz’s friend, Gilbert Melendez in December, 2014. But, Diaz ended up losing to Rafael dos Anjos shortly after Pettis beat Melendez, and their paths diverged from there.

The two discuss their issues

Well, finally, next weekend at UFC 241, Diaz and Petis are going to battle. Recently the UFC released the video below, which features both men discussing their issues and the build-up to the highly anticipated bout. Diaz will be fighting for the first time since 2016, when he lost his rematch to Conor McGregor. Pettis, meanwhile, is coming off a jaw-dropping knockout of Stephen Thompson this past March.
