Following the news that the UFC’s December 7th card in Washington, D.C. is going to feature a bout between heavyweights Stefan Struve and Ben Rothwell, it’s being reported the card will also see Alistair Overeem battle Walt Harris.

Verbal agreements are reportedly in place

ESPN’s Brett Okamoto is reporting that Overeem and Harris have verbally agreed to fight at the upcoming, Washington card. The heavyweight scrap will headline the event.

It’s an interesting match-up, not only because of how dangerous Overeem and Harris are, but both men are coming off wins over Aleksei Oleinik.

Overeem (45-17) finished the “Boa Constrictor” late in the opening round of their April fight. Harris (13-7), however, bombed Oleinik out in just 12 seconds last month.

As it stands right now, Overeem is ranked #7 in the UFC’s heavyweight division and Harris is #11. So, it’s an important match-up for both. Overeem needs a win to stay within reach of the title shot mix, while Harris would almost certainly leap into the top ten if he beats the “Reem”.
