A lesser-known rapper named NF has just overthrown Chance the Rapper to score the number one album in the country.

Fox News reported that NF, whose real name is Nathan Feuerstein, is a 28-year-old from Michigan who is often compared to the rapper Eminem, one of his major influences in music. One major thing that makes NF different from Eminem, however, is that he has no explicit lyrics in his rap.

NF’s Album Explores Mental Health

NF’s new album “The Search,” which focuses on mental health and self-acceptance, just saw the biggest sales week for a rap album this year. This has stunned the rap world, as nobody was expecting a virtually unknown Christian rapper to get bigger sales on his album than well-known rapper Chance’s long-awaited “The Big Day.”

“I want to thank every single fan who supported me by buying this album,” NF posted on social media. “I put my life into this and to see this much support means a lot to me…thank you to my label for letting me do whatever I want creatively since day one. The fans made this album #1, and I am forever grateful.”

NF Got His Start In Christian Music

Though he does not like to refer to himself as a Christian rapper, NF got his start by signing with Capitol Christian Music Group in 2014. He went on to collaborate with TobyMac of DC Talk and Flame (Marcus Gray), the Christian rapper who won millions in a lawsuit against Katy Perry for her song “Dark Horse.”

“I mean, I’m a Christian, but I’m just an artist…To me it’s like if you’re a Christian and you’re a plumber, are you a Christian plumber?” NF said in 2016. “I don’t make music for Christians. I make music for everyone.”

Though he may not make music about Christianity, NF is still showing the world that it’s possible to make it in the rap world without being explicit and losing your Christian values. This makes him a great role model for young people, unlike many entertainers in the rap music world.

NF Opens Up About His OCD

One of the things that is making NF’s new album so popular is how personal it is, as it delves deeply into his life. For example, his song “Leave Me Alone” tells of his diagnosis with obsessive-compulsive disorder and the many challenges he’s faced since recently obtaining fame.

We applaud NF for sticking to his values and showing the world that you really can be a Christian and a successful rapper at the same time!
