Chick-fil-A Founder Made Sure the Restaurant Would Stay Closed Sundays Before He Died

The CEO of Chick-fil-A just spoke out to reveal how he promised his father that he would uphold the company’s strong Christian values.

Dan Cathy’s Promise To His Father

Fox News reported that Dan Cathy, the current chairman, president, and CEO of Chick-fil-A, said that he promised his father Truett Cathy, who founded the restaurant chain, that he would maintain the brand’s philanthropic efforts and that they would always close on Sundays when he took over back in 2013.

“We will be faithful to Christ’s lordship in our lives,” the pledge, which was highlighted in Truett Cathy’s book, “Eat Mor Chikin: Inspire More People,” began. “As committed Christians we will live a life of selfless devotion to His calling in our lives.”

“We will prayerfully seek His leadership in all major decisions that impact our family and others,” added Dan and his two siblings, Bubba and Trudy. “Our family roles as spouses to our lifelong mates, parents to our children, and loving aunts and uncles will be our priority.”

Christian Values Pay Off For Chick-fil-A

Dan has kept his promise in the years since then, and it’s paid off in a big way. Chick-fil-A was recently named the top fast-food chain on the American Customer Satisfaction index for the fourth year in a row, showing just how much Americans love the Christian values that the company represents.

“We are honored by the ranking and grateful to our customers for choosing Chick-fil-A, it’s truly our pleasure to serve them,” Chick-fil-A said in a statement afterward. “Our commitment to serving great food with gracious hospitality started more than 50 years ago with our founder’s first restaurant. Today, the more than 145,000 individuals who represent the brand in 2,400 restaurants make honors like this possible by continuing his commitment to service.”

Liberals Try and Boycott Chick-fil-A

Sticking to their Christian values has not always been easy for Chick-fil-A to do. Liberals have spent the last few years trying to boycott the chain specifically because of its Christian values, yet the restaurant chain has been able to rise above the backlash to remain as popular as ever. This just goes to show that most Americans really do believe in the Christian values that Chick-fil-A has stood behind all these years. Liberals may be loud, but there is a silent majority in this country that loves both God and Chick-fil-A. We hope that Chick-fil-A continues to stand by the Christian values that made them great and that they remain popular in the years to come.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
