Debbie Harry is shocking a lot of people by discussing a couple of near brushes with death from her tumultuous past. The Blondie singer, claims she was raped at knifepoint and also once got a ride with serial killer Ted Bundy.
Harry stated that she and Blondie guitarist Chris Stein, who was her boyfriend at the time, were tied up by an armed robber in her New York home. This is believed to have occurred before Blondie became a household name in the 1970s.
“Then he poked around searching for anything worth anything,” the singer said. “He piled up the guitars and Chris’ camera and then he untied my hands and told me to take off my pants.”
Harry claims the rape wasn’t the worst part of the ordeal. “The stolen guitars hurt me more,” she said.
Meeting Ted Bundy
In her forthcoming book “Face It,” Debbie Harry shares what she believes was an attempted abduction by killer Bundy. The singer accepted a ride from a stranger in Manhattan but soon became suspicious.
“I got in and the windows were rolled up except an inch and a half at the top,” she said in a previous interview. “I realized there was no door handle, no window crank, no nothing. The inside of the car was totally stripped out. The hairs on the back of my neck just stood up.”

Debbie Harry’s Escape
Harry thought fast and opened the handle on the outside of the car by reaching her hand through the window. If this was Ted Bundy, her quick actions very well might have saved her life.
“He tried to stop me by spinning the car, but it helped me fling myself out. After I saw him on the news. Ted Bundy.”

Ted Bundy killed at least 30 women. The well-known serial killer was executed in 1989. Bundy was an unlikely serial killer at the time as he presented like the boy next door. He was educated and wasn’t viewed as a threat as is explained in the video below.
