Alejandra Lara is scheduled to fight Taylor Turner tomorrow at Bellator 225, and she’s using that platform to call for action on the environmental devastation happening in the Amazon rainforest.
If you’ve been following the news, then you know that portions of the Amazon region has been devastated by fires. According to a report from CBS News, there has been approximately 73,000 wildfires in the bioregion this year, which provides a significant amount of the world’s oxygen (and is also home to thousands of species including humans). Environmentalist say a key driver in the disaster has been deforestation via human made fires
Well, as you can see by the picture below, Lara used today’s weigh-ins to bring more attention to the ongoing crisis. The #SOSAmazonia tag that Lara had inked on, is being used in social media to reference the deforestation and fires. The Amazon extends into Colombia, where Lara is from.
Lara is coming off losses to Juliana Vasquez and Bellator champ Ilima-Lei Macfarlane, after winning three straight.
