Affliction Day Of Reckoning

The folks over at AXS TV love to take us back to yesteryear in the world of mixed martial arts, and that trend continues this Friday night with a special edition of Affliction: Day Of Reckoning.

Back in 2009, Affliction was working to compete against the UFC has the premier MMA promotion in the United States. They had signed stars such as Fedor Emelianenko, Andrei Arlovski and Josh Barnett, with all three taking part in this special event.

In the main event, Emelianenko took on Arlovski and Barnett went up against Gilbert Yvel.

Day Of Reckoning originally aired on HDNET Fights back in January 2009, but will make its “big network” debut on AXS TV this Friday night beginning at 9 p.m. ET.

The Affliction re-airing begins a three-week stretch of replays featuring some of the marquee names in the sport today and from the past, hosted by commentator Ron Kruck, who will introduce the event and provide some self-reflection on the fights themselves.

Following Affliction: Day Of Reckoning, we flash back to 2013 with Legacy FC 24 on Friday, August 16 beginning at 9 p.m. ET. That card features current UFC flyweight and bantamweight champion Henry Cejudo, former UFC female champion Holly Holm, Diego Ferreira, Charles Byrd and Ryan Benoit all in action as they get their big-breaks in MMA before heading off the compete inside the Octagon.

The third and final event will be Legacy Fighting Alliance 46 on Friday, August 23 beginning at 9 p.m. ET. That 2018 card celebrated 100 years of the Fort Eustis Army Base and featured U.S. Marines and current UFC welterweight fighter Kyle Stewart meeting James Nakashima in a bout for the LFA title. Also, Mitch Aguiar, a retired Navy SEAL, and Mumia Abu Dey Ali went at it for just 30 seconds, but what transpired in those 30 seconds left fans around the world in awe.

AXS TV returns with live fighting action on Friday, August 30 with LFA 74 featuring a heavyweight battle between Jared Vanderaa and 6-foot-10 Renan Ferreira.
