WWE Dean Ambrose and EC3

There are a number of wrestlers who have been extremely successful in the indies and NXT, only to be destroyed once they came to the main roster. Evidently, Vince and the other main roster brass have their preferences, which can come at the detriment of talent. But which WWE superstars have been influenced the most?

EC3

EC3

Insanely popular on Total Impact Wrestling and NXT, only to fall on the main roster again. It needs to be said that his downfall was of no fault of his own, as he has been mismanaged and used as a jobber for most of the time. Whenever he appears, he is still impressive. But it seems it is not enough for the WWE.

The Entire Cruiserweight Division

WWE Cruiserweight Division

While we have mentioned a lot of individual wrestlers, Vince has managed to tank the entire cruiserweight division as well. Even though I love watching high-flying miracles, putting these wrestlers on a brand of their own has been a mistake. While it did stand a chance with the likes of Neville, the WWE destroyed that bridge a long time ago.

Bad News Barrett

You may not remember, but Bad News Barrett was actually one of the first wrestlers to come from developmental. Despite being an outstanding heel, once Nexus was disbanded, the WWE showed little to no interest in Wade Barrett. Eventually, his career died on the main roster and Barrett soon left the company.

Former WWE United States Champion Rusev

Rusev had an incredibly strong start in the WWE, even winning the United States Championship multiple times, his career would eventually take a bit of a downward spiral. Despite being imposing alongside his wife Lana, it seems that management has little interest in pushing Rusev or putting another title on him. While this could all change in the future, it is a shame Rusev is being treated the way he is at the moment.

Sami Zayn

This is one of the men who surprised me the most in terms of not succeeding on the main roster. Nobody is more passionate about wrestling and putting on good matches as Sami Zayn, so why has he not gotten any real opportunities?

Sami Zayn seems to be suffering from the fickle nature of WWE brass; this much is clear when you look at the storylines he has been involved in and the lack of title opportunities. Despite having some opportunities alongside Kevin Owens, he has not been able to copy the success he had since NXT.

Bray Wyatt

You could argue that Bray Wyatt has it made on the main roster, but one only needs to look at how up and down his career has been to see otherwise. In fact, his failed feud with Randy Orton was subject to a lot of discussion and it took forever for Bray Wyatt to return to the main roster. Now that he’s back, it seems the WWE is making the same horrible mistakes with Bray Wyatt as they did in the past.
