Jon Jones is back in the news again due to legal issues rather than his accomplishments in the Octagon.
KRQE is reporting that Jones has been charged with battery, following accusations from a waitress at an Albuquerque strip club. According to the report, in April, the waitress accused Jones of slapping her inappropriately, kissing her neck and pulling her down to his lap while she was working. She has also alleged that Jones placed her in a chokehold and lifted her from the ground.
The UFC light-heavyweight champ reportedly missed his bond arraignment last month as a result of the paperwork not being delivered. James Hallinan, who is a spokesperson for Jones, issued the following statement to KRQE:
“Today, the media told Mr. Jones about a false accusation launched against him and that paperwork had been sent to an incorrect address. However, after receiving the documents from the press, Mr. Jones immediately went to pay the small fee, and he, and multiple witnesses, stand ready to factually refute the malicious lies being told about him to the public.”
Since news of the charge broke, Jones tweeted out this:
In 2012, Jones was issued a DWI charge. Three years later in 2015, he was stripped of the light-heavyweight title due to his involvement in a hit-and-run incident that broke the arm of a pregnant woman.
At UFC 239 earlier this month, Jones worked his way to a split decision win over Thiago Santos.
