Lori Loughlin’s daughters Isabella and Olivia Jade got some bad news when they were kicked out of their sorority at the University of Southern California after they found themselves embroiled in the college admissions scandal.
“Olivia and Bella were both in Kappa Kappa Gamma and the sorority has since kicked them out and is trying to distance themselves from the situation as much as possible,” a source said, according to Fox News.
The source went on to say that Isabella, 20, and Olivia Jade, 19, are taking things one day at a time.
“This has strengthened their bond more than anything possibly could,” the source said.
The girls’ parents, Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, have been accused of paying $500,000 in bribe money to have both girls admitted to USC as members of the crew team even though neither of them had ever rowed. The couple rejected a plea deal in the case that would have put them in jail for just a few months, and they are now facing forty years in prison when they go to trial.
The source went on to say that the girls have been having difficulty with the scandal.
“Olivia’s world came crashing down quicker in terms of getting dumped and losing all of her business, but this all unfolded slower for Bella and it’s been more emotionally devastating,” the insider explained.
Olivia Jade, who was a beauty blogger with over one million followers before the scandal, lost tons of endorsement deals after her parents were arrested. Though she initially allegedly said her parents “ruined her life,” sources say that she has since forgiven them and is standing by them amidst the scandal.
This comes days after Isabella and Olivia Jade broke their months-long silence on social media to wish their mother a happy birthday.
“Happy birthday mama. I love you,” Isabella wrote alongside a black and white image of herself with Loughlin.
Olivia Jade posted a throwback photo of herself as a baby being held by her mom along with the caption, “one day late. Happy birthday. I love you so much.”
It still remains unclear exactly how much Isabella and Olivia Jade knew about what their parents were doing, if they even knew anything at all. If the girls truly were in the dark about the bribes, it’s a shame that they are being punished for something their parents did. That being said, a national sorority like Kappa Kappa Gamma naturally does not want to be connected to this scandal in any way, so it’s understandable that they would decide to throw the girls out.
**UPDATE**
Kappa Kappa Gamma has since released a statement claiming that they have not kicked Isabella and Olivia Jade out of their chapter at USC.
“The story regarding these two individuals is false,” a representative with the sorority said. “Bella Giannulli remains an active member of the Delta Tau chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Olivia Jade did not complete the membership process.”
