Jo Dee Messina had a visit on her front porch that has completely transformed her life. The country singer has shared with fans that Jesus showed up on her porch during the lowest point in her life. This has led her to release some faith-based music.
“Jesus Christ walked onto my front porch and argued with me all day long. As real as I’m sitting in this seat, Jesus came to my front porch and He’s like, ‘She’s mine,'” Messina said.
At that point in her life, Jo Dee had too much on her plate and was in desperate need of a big shift in her life. That came when Jesus walked into her life. This visit later sustained her faith when she was battling cancer.
“I was trying to sustain a career. I had a lifestyle and a family and everything, all on my own, and I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t,” she stated. “I was pulled way too thin and so, I was just standing on my porch one day, and Jesus Christ walked out and said, ‘She’s mine.’ I just knew it, in the middle of that, in the middle of my spirit and my soul, I’m like, ‘That’s Jesus.'”
“I spent my entire career, my entire life glorifying myself. It’s time for him. He gets the glory from this point on,” she added. “When you are going through a hard time in your family situation and you are diagnosed with cancer, and you don’t know what’s going to lie around that corner, and you have the arms of Jesus there, holding you. You never want to walk away from it.”
Jo Dee regularly shares her love of Christ during her shows and brings him into her music, too. A video of her singing “Bigger Than This” can be viewed below. She sings about how God’s love is bigger than all of your problems. His love can overcome anything. While many entertainers don’t expose their faith, Jo Dee now puts it front and center for all to see.
