Former female featherweight queen Cris Cyborg got back on the winning track at UFC 240 last night. But the bout–against Felicia Spencer–was the last fight on the Brazilian’s contract, and it’s not entirely clear if she’ll re-sign with UFC. It’s also not entirely clear they’d make her the kind of offer that would make her happy.

The facts are thus:

  • The UFC made the female featherweight division just so she could be its star.
  • That star shines considerably less bright after bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes knocked Cyborg out.
  • Cyborg has long harbored some hurt feelings over the stuff Dana White said about her in the past (especially when everyone was clamoring for Ronda Rousey to face Cyborg).

Those facts kind of translate into some murky waters ahead. As per MMAJunkie:

“We have a lot of issues, me and the UFC,” Cyborg told MMA Junkie at the UFC 240 post-fight news conference. “Media and people don’t see a lot of things inside but we have a lot of things to work to continue to stay (in UFC) Everybody knows I don’t have the best and greatest relationship with UFC, I don’t have the best relationship with Dana White. He’s bullied me around, bullied me on the Internet and I’m suffering bullying everywhere because of this. I have a daughter, I have a father and I don’t think it’s nice and he’s never, ever said, ‘I’m sorry’ or told me anything about this. It’s going to continue, it’s not finished.

“Like to say I’m scared of Amanda Nunes, to say I don’t want to fight her, this is a liar. I text him after the fight saying I want the rematch. This don’t help grow my brand. It damages my brand and if I’m going to work for a promotion I don’t want someone to damage by brand. I want to work together and we’re going to have to take a little time and see.”

It would suck if Cyborg left the UFC, and big money fights in other promotions would be hard to come by…

…Although there is one compelling match-up out there. What do you think of Cyborg vs. Kayla Harrison in the PFL?
