WWE Vince McMahon and Shane McMahon

The WWE claims it encourages its superstars to pitch ideas fro SmackDown or Monday Night Raw. However, recent reports from Fightful.com state that the company might not be all that interested in the ideas of its superstars. Here is the story.

WWE Refuses Most Ideas

According to Fightful.com, the company is refusing many ideas, including ideas that hint at any incompetence in relation to its creative team. Once again, the WWE is hiding its problems, but at the detriment of good ideas?

“WWE has not had a favorable reaction to stars that pitch storylines under the guise that current programming isn’t good, meaning that stories pitched that insinuate incompetence on behalf of WWE are looked down upon and pretty quickly dismissed.”

Superstars Speaking Out About The Creative Team

There have been some hints of discontent between WWE superstars and the creative team. Even some veterans have spoken out about the problems; this includes Batista, who referred to the creative process within the company as a genuine nightmare.

“The creative process, I still don’t get. It was a nightmare to me the last time I was there, which was 2014, and it seems like it’s become worse. I feel like they don’t have a clear vision, a long-term vision, everything is very week-to-week. It doesn’t seem like they stick to a plan very much.”

Batista is not the only one who has spoken out about the broken creative process within WWE. In fact, Jon Moxley, formerly known as Dean Ambrose, made some statements that hinted at a similar problem. He mentioned that the company rejected and ignored four ideas he pitched for his match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32. Maybe they should have listened…

The Power Of Vince

WWE Vince McMahon

I mentioned before that Vince seems to ignore many good ideas; this is claimed by many wrestling reporters out there. One source is Wade Keller from PWTorch:

“Vince wants suggestions from everyone but it never gets on TV. 99 out of 100 times you can come up with an idea for Vince and it won’t be used.”

One does have to wonder why new ideas are not welcome, especially when you look at the results from people who do actually have some degree of creative freedom; this includes Daniel Bryan, Matt Hardy, and Sami Zayn. Instead of the generic WWE scripted gimmicks, isn’t it time for something a little more compelling and interesting?
