You know the best thing about Valentina Shevchenko? As the female flyweight champ, she’s added some stability to a relatively new division that desperately needed it.

Originally, Nicco Montano was supposed to be the queen of the 125-pounders. But her reign was all about missing weight and missing fights, so when Shevchenko took on former strawweight champ Joanna Jędrzejczyk, and beat Jedrzejczyk, well, the division finally had someone worthwhile at the top. Someone who–when she defends her belt–is extremely capable of snuffing out the challengers. Which brings us to last night’s UFC 238 co-main event, and her bout against Jessica Eye.

Yes, Shevchenko murdered her. It wasn’t even close. The first round saw Shevchenko taking the fight to the ground and dominating position.

Then came the second round, which has Shevchenko knocking Eye out cold with a kick to the head.

Do you know how weight classes die? The die when their champs are boring.

Shevchenko is the best, and she certainly isn’t boring.
