UFC Minneapolis: Sounds Like Drew Dober’s Sparring Sessions With Justin Gaethje Have Been Must-See…
Drew Dober recently heaped praise on training partner Justin Gaethje, and he also reported their sparring sessions have been something else.
Justin Gaethje has long been considered one of the most entertaining fighters in the game, and not surprisingly, it sounds like that’s also the case when he’s sparring…
Gaethje has been helping Drew Dober prepare for his upcoming bout with Marco Polo Reyes, which will be part of UFC Minneapolis this Saturday. The two train out of Team Elevation in Denver.
Well, recently Dober spoke with MMA Junkie, and while discussing what Gaethje provides as a teammate, he said this:
“Fighting a guy like Marco Polo Reyes who likes standing and trading, being a tough striker, I have no better teammate than Justin Gaethje himself,” Dober said. “Him and I had plenty and plenty of rounds together, and I’m sure people watching our sparring rounds found a lot of entertainment in that. Justin Gaethje puts on a pace that makes you exhausted.”
Yup, if you’ve also followed Dober over the years, then you know he also brings it and then some in the cage. So, it’s not surprising to hear that his sparring sessions with Gaethje are of the must-see variety.
When asked for his take on Reyes, and what he brings to the table, Dober said this:
“To be honest, when they first threw the name at me, one I thought it was a joke because his name is Marco Polo,” Dober said.” I just didn’t know who he was and where he came from, but after I watched some video and saw stats and his UFC record, then yeah absolutely it was fantastic. I think Sean Shelby did a fantastic job of getting two fighters in the same cage to entertain the audience.”
