Talent Launching Syrian Campaign During PPV

– One talent who isn’t heading to Saudi Arabia for Super Show Down (SSD) is Sami Zayn, who also didn’t participate in the Greatest Royal Rumble as well. The reason? It seems that the powers that be in this area of the globe requested that Sami not be a part of SSD as he is Syrian Muslim. Kevin Owens isn’t going to the Saudi event as well, due to the fact that the two are buddies.

Interestingly enough, Sami Zayn will be launching a new fundraising campaign for Syria, which is set to unroll during the same time that SSD is set for broadcast: Friday, June 7th at 2 p.m.  See Zayn’s tweet below:

This is a huge statement on Sami’s part, and here’s hoping this doesn’t affect his role on WWE television moving forward, but good for him for making a positive impact in this world and standing up for what he believes in.

– While nothing has been approved as of yet, WWE has brought along two female superstars for their Super Show Down event, taking place this Friday June 7th, in Saudi Arabia. Nattie Neidhart and Alexa Bliss took the 17-hour flight, despite the fact that they have not been promoted for the pay-per-view.

According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, the company has been negotiating back and forth with Saudi General Sports Authority for approval on the SSD women’s match for a few months now. While they have not been given the stamp of approval to compete in the ring for SSD as of this writing, the WWE brought them along for the ride in hopes that the Saudi Sports Authority will give them the okay to proceed with a match. If Alexa and Nattie get to compete in the ring, this would be a huge development for women’s wrestling in this region of the world. Renee Young has once again taken the trip to Saudi for a commentary role; she also participated at the announce table for WWE’s Crown Jewel event this past November.
