Ea Star Wars Reveals Offical Gameplay Demo for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – Features Saw Gerrera Cameo
EA Star Wars released an official gameplay demo for Respawn Entertainment’s upcoming action-adventure game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Take a look.
The opening moments of the gameplay trailer featuring Assassin’s Creed style movements and platforming as the protagonist, Cal Kestis, runs along walls and climbs up a building. It also includes a cameo of Rebel leader Saw Gerrera, who was portrayed by Forrest Whitaker in Star Wars: Rogue One, but first appeared in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.
After the brief cut scene with Saw Gerrera, where the two strategize on how to defeat the Empire, we get a look at the use of some Force powers as well as some lightsaber work, it doubles as a light.
Upon initial impression, the game looks extremely immersive with Tie Fighters flying overhead, an explosion happening in the background, and Stormtroopers radioing each other.
As for combat, it looks like you can do a variety of things with the lightsaber from slicing and dicing your opponents, deflecting lightsaber blasts, and even launching it at unsuspecting foes.

The combat details are pretty solid. You can see the actual cuts the lighstaber makes in Stormtrooper armor. However, the stormtrooper enemies don’t seem to be a real challenge for Kestis, who is described as a Jedi Padawan turned fugitive.
While the Stormtroopers aren’t a challenge, the appearance of what looks to be an Inquisitor seems to provide a much tougher challenge.
However, the Empire might be the least of Cal Kestis’ worries as the game appears to feature a number of different creatures including beetles and bugs that provide somewhat of a challenge to the young Jedi Padawan.
While Kestis might be the playable character. He also is joined by a droid companion BD-1 who has the ability to “search your environment, find the quickest path to safety, or recover from a fight.”
The Jedi powers seem quite impressive for a Padawan. He can Force leap, Force pull, and there even appears to be a Force power that slows time that not only effects objects in the environment like industrial fans, but can also slow down blaster bullets. It appears similar to how Kylo Ren stopped a blaster shot in The Force Awakens.
The gameplay trailer looks promising. However, I was disappointed with the actual lightsaber combat. It doesn’t appear that blocking with your lightsaber actually stops an incoming attack from an enemy’s energy weapon. Hopefully, that will improve if you actually fight full fledged Inquisitors.
Along with the gameplay trailer, EA Star Wars also released an official trailer.
The game is already available for pre-order. It will be released on November 15, 2019.
When the EA Star Wars released the first trailer, the game came under heavy criticism for featuring a white male as the protagonist.
