Who Came Up With the 24/7 Title?

– WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley helped introduce a new championship to the company fold this past Monday night, amongst some mixed reviews; however, while the title isn’t the prettiest to look at, the 24/7 Championship may prove to stir things up quite a bit in the land of WWE, their house shows, and potentially social media.

Who’s your favorite #247Champion so far? #247Title

With both RAW and SmackDown LIVE are on the USA Network currently, it’s hard for the network to not notice the slump in ratings, especially when it comes to that third hour on the Red brand. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the idea to bring in this title did not come from the WWE, rather, the USA Network. As per the report, the network has been complaining about the company’s declined ratings on television, especially in that last hour of RAW, and the network sent some ideas to Vincent Kennedy McMahon around ways to improve this. WWE’s Chairman knew he had to take them up on one of their concepts, and with the new title the best of the bunch, the 24/7 Championship was born.

– Many within the WWE Universe were shocked to see Dolph Ziggler make an explosive return to the WWE when he attacked WWE Champion Kofi Kingston after his match on SD LIVE this week. Ziggler would move on to explain his reasons behind the attack during a segment later on in the program, which thus set up a match for Ziggler versus Kingston with that title on the line for the next Saudi event, Super Show Down, taking place on June 7th.

One may wonder if this is a one-off match comeback for Ziggler; however, the Wells Fargo Center, home to WWE’s July pay-per-view Extreme Rules, is currently advertising the event, and Dolph Ziggler is being promoted to participate in a triple threat match for the WWE Championship against Kevin Owens and Kofi Kingston.

So, at the very least, it seems as if The Show-Off will be around in the WWE until this July.
