We’ve got a UFC pay-per-view coming to us from Brazil this weekend, and unless you really like feeling sad, there’s only one reason to tune in to UFC 237. Her name is Rose Namajunas.
What’s so sad about the card? Well, BJ Penn is fighting. As is Anderson Silva. Even ol’ Jose Aldo. Heroes one and all, who in their prime were considered untouchable. But the sun has set pretty hard on those days, and those fighters – Penn especially – are simply depressing to watch nowadays.
But ThugRose! She’s the strawweight champ! And she’s pretty damn good!
There is, of course, a chance that opponent Jessica Andrade could punch Namajunas out. However, if that happens, it’s not because Namajunas is over the hill. Heck, a dethroned ThugRose could conceivably win the belt back at a later date.
To put it bluntly, something like that ain’t never happening for Penn, Silva and Aldo.
So yeah, UFC 237. Sad. But that main event is going to be awesome.
