Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor recently outlined why he’s certain he would defeat Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a second fight, yes, under boxing rules, and the undefeated boxer’s business manager has responded.

While speaking with Tony Robbins not long ago, McGregor argued he was having an easy time with Mayweather during the early rounds of their 2017 fight. McGregor credited Mayweather Jr. for changing up his approach in the fight, which ended with him stopping the UFC star in round 10. But, McGregor also relayed that he’s certain he would defeat the decorated pugilist in a rematch.

Well, more recently, TMZ Sports asked Mayweather CEO Leonard Ellerbe for his take on McGregor’s comments, and the business exec said this (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“That’s interesting. I hadn’t heard that but Conor McGregor knows he’s always welcome to that ass-whooping,” Ellerbe said. “I have the utmost respect for Conor, Dana (White), and those guys. If Conor McGregor wants some of that smoke again, he knows what he’s got to do.”

“He knows what he’s got to do,” Ellerbe continued. “All he’s got to do is call Dana. That’s all he has to do. I can’t speak for Floyd but I’ll tell you what, Conor McGregor, if he wants that ass-whooping again, I’m sure Floyd would oblige to that.”

Now, if you have next to no interest in seeing McGregor box Mayweather Jr. again, don’t worry. As it stands right now, the chances of this happening are slim to none. White has said that McGregor’s next bout has to be with the UFC, and there doesn’t appear to be any widespread appetite for Mayweather Jr. – McGregor 2. At least, not under boxing rules anyway….
