Cody Rhodes On CM Punk - AEW

– After tons of hype, tonight is All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) first show. While they have some lesser known names booked for Double Or Nothing, there are also international stars such as Chris Jericho, The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega competing. One name that people cannot stop talking about is CM Punk. As of now, there is no indication that Punk will be there as he is doing color commentary for an MMA event about 300 miles away in California.

During the Starrcast Q&A, Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks were asked about Punk possibly joining the upstart promotion.

“Wrestling fans never gave up on CM Punk,” said Cody. “It’s an unbelievable connection that he accrued for the fan base and himself. So, I can say for that reason that the door remains open for CM Punk at all times.”

While Punk has distanced himself from wrestling since he walked out of WWE over five years ago and focused on other activities like MMA, he was rumored to do a run-in weeks ago; when a masked wrestler entered the ring at an Indy show, hit the GTS and left.

When AEW was being formed, Punk was the first person they wanted to bring in. With AEW airing on TNT TV starting in the fall, there is also the possibility he could appear at that time.

Rey Mysterio has a separated AC joint in his left shoulder that happened early in his Money in the Bank match against Samoa Joe. On Monday’s RAW, Mysterio will address the injury and the status of the United States Championship.

During an Instagram post, Mysterio noted that he was having trouble lifting his arm and is currently during physical therapy in California.

Mysterio is very prone to injuries and the latest one is awful timing. Not only did he just win his first United States title, but his son Dominic has been appearing on TV. This was speculation that Dominic could sign with WWE.
