Royal Watchers Say This Means the Baby Is Coming ASAP!

The only due date we were given for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first child was a very vague “spring” so royal watchers are left to look for other signs that the royal arrival is on the way. Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, has reportedly arrived in the U.K. ahead of the birth, which means the baby could come any day now.

Despite all the ongoing drama with her father’s side of the family, Meghan’s mother has remained a rock for the expectant mother. Ragland doesn’t seek out or speak to the press about her daughter the way Meghan’s dad, siblings, and other distant family has.

It’s unsurprising that Meghan would want her mother close as she prepares to give birth, but also the fact that she’s a skilled yoga instructor could mean Meghan will have her in the room throughout the process. Meghan is also eschewing the traditional visit to the Lindo wing of St. Mary’s Hospital that Prince William and Kate Middleton have used for each of their three children.

“Meghan Markle does not want the pressure of having to pose on the steps for cameras so soon after childbirth,” a source said.

Buckingham Palace also issued a formal statement saying, “Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

It will be the first time in 42 years that a royal baby won’t be presented on the hospital steps, but fair enough.

Will the half-American royal get a title?

While Prince Harry and Markle’s first child is a much-anticipated event, the baby could end up not being given a royal title. Not because Meghan is still legally an American, but because he or she will be seventh in line to the throne. It’s reported the baby will likely be given the title of Earl or Lady, depending on its gender. Still aristocratic, but not royal.

However, it’s doubtful this will bother Prince Harry at all as his mother Diana was a “Lady” before marrying Prince Charles and her father and brother were Earls. Regardless, the secrecy surrounding the birth could certainly backfire on the couple as both sides of the Atlantic watch and wait, giving paparazzi incentive to encroach on the birth following a very public pregnancy.
