Millions of people all over the world have been eagerly awaiting the upcoming birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby, who is believed to be due by the end of this month. Now, however, Kensington Palace has made a shocking announcement indicating that we may not get the chance to meet the royal baby for quite some time.

Daily Mail reported that Harry and Meghan stunned everyone by revealing that they will not be announcing the birth of their child when he or she is born, as is royal tradition. Instead, they will be waiting to announce the birth until they have “had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are very grateful for the goodwill they have received from people throughout the United Kingdom and around the world as they prepare to welcome their baby,” a Kensington Palace spokesman said. “Their Royal Highnesses have taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private. The Duke and Duchess look forward to sharing the exciting news with everyone once they have had an opportunity to celebrate privately as a new family.”

This comes after it was announced that Meghan will be following in the Queen’s footsteps by giving birth to her baby at home with the help of a midwife. She will be giving birth to her child at Frogmore Cottage, the home that she and Harry have just moved into.

Waiting to announce the birth of their child for an extended period of time sounds more like something a Hollywood couple would do rather than a move the royal family would make. However, given Meghan’s history of being a Hollywood star and her determination to do things her way as a royal, it should really come as no surprise.

While it’s a shame that we will not get to meet the royal baby right away, all that really matters is that the child is happy and healthy. Please keep Meghan in your prayers as she prepares to give birth!
