McMahon vs. Oliver confirmed for WrestleMania

A war of words between two media moguls will escalate when WWE impresario Vince McMahon battles birdlike satirical pundit John Oliver at WrestleMania.

A war of words between two media moguls will escalate into full-scale warfare Sunday when WWE impresario Vince McMahon battles birdlike satirical pundit John Oliver at WrestleMania 35.

The enmity between McMahon and Oliver dates all the way back to yesterday, when the host of Last Week Tonight delivered a scathing report accusing McMahon of treating wrestlers like circus animals — to which McMahon angrily responded that “they’re called sports-entertainers, not wrestlers, dammit!”

Oliver 15-minute report on WWE described the company as “morally subterranean,” which marks the first time a mainstream media personality has implied that WWE has any form of morality whatsoever.

McMahon issued the WrestleMania to Oliver via a four-minute pre-recorded video message, during which he used the term “quite frankly” 17 times and vowed to squash Oliver like he “did to Ted Turner and all the territories.”

Oliver accepted McMahon’s challenge this afternoon, surprising many with the revelation that he wrestled for nine years under a mask in Mexico as a luchador El Pundito.

Given the high-profile nature of the match, Oliver-versus-McMahon will become the main event of WrestleMania, and the women’s triple-threat match will be held the previous day at WWE Axxess.
