Khabib Nurmagomedov Responds To Dustin Poirier, Sets Fight Date
The unbeaten Nurmagomedov last fought in late 2018 when he submitted Conor McGregor in his first UFC lightweight title defense.
UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov watched as Dustin Poirier became the interim lightweight champion and his likely next challenger Saturday night.
Poirier scored a decision victory over reigning featherweight champion Max Holloway from Atlanta live on pay-per-view.
And just as “The Diamond” called out Nurmagomedov, the unbeaten “Eagle” followed on Twitter.
“I don’t agree with the judges 49-46, I got a draw, my respect to both fighters and Poirier’s achievement so far cannot be denied,” he wrote. “My congratulations Dustin, see you in September.”

Nurmagomedov is currently serving a suspension for his role in a post-fight brawl with Conor McGregor last year after making his first title defense.
