Kacey Musgraves Slammed For Disrespecting Reba McEntire

Country music singer Kacey Musgraves is facing tons of backlash from fans today after she did not stand for Reba McEntire’s performance at the ACM Awards on Sunday night.

Fox News reported that as McEntire, who was hosting the awards show for the sixteenth time, took the stage to perform her song “Freedom,” most of the audience stood respectfully. Many fans noticed right away that Musgraves, however, did not stand up.

“Seriously…what the hell is wrong with Kacey Musgraves. Reba’s performing and she acts like she’s watching someone pick up their dry cleaning. Have a little respect…at least for someone who paved the  way for you,” one social media user commented, with another adding, “Why did kacey look so bored and miserable during Reba ?? #ACMawards.”

“Was it me or did kacey musgraves looked bored when reba was slaying that stage like a true country music legend, everyone else was up, dancing and singing #ACMawards,” a third user commented.

McEntire had joked about Musgraves earlier in the show during her monologue. She mentioned Musgraves’ success at the Grammy Awards while discussing the lack of women in this year’s ACMs’ entertainer of the year category, which Keith Urban ended up winning.

“It froze us women out of entertainer of the year,” McEntire said. “But you know what, that didn’t bother Kacey Musgraves because she’s been too busy carrying all her Grammys around.”

While Musgraves likely should have stood up for the performance, fans really are making a mountain out of a molehill over this. It’s not like McEntire was singing the national anthem, so Musgraves did not actually NEED to stand up. There’s likely a logical explanation as to why Musgraves was sitting, and maybe we should give her the benefit of the doubt. I’m sure McEntire would not want to see Musgraves being attacked for something as simple as this. Let this one go and move on, people. There’s nothing to see here!
