Ben Askren and Jordan Burroughs will head to the mat next month for a fundraising event to square off.
Grapple at the Garden is set for the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City on May 6. The bout came about after the two agreed to meet through Twitter.
Askren is expected to face Jorge Masvidal later this year inside the Octagon after making his debut with a victory over former UFC champion Robbie Lawler. “Funky” was a two-time NCAA Div. I champion at Missouri and qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics before embarking on his career in MMA.
Burroughs won two NCAA titles at Nebraska before capturing gold at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. He has won his last eight fights at the wrestling event.
