Usman UFC

Kamaru Usman’s remarkable Octagon run continued tonight at UFC 235, as he dominated Tyron Woodley to secure the promotion’s welterweight crown.

Usman had Woodley backpedaling right out of the gate with pressure and takedown attempts. Although Usman wasn’t able to land any big shots in round one, in round two, he took Woodley down and landed a couple of punishing strikes from above.

In round three, Usman continued to press forward and repeatedly pushed the champ against the fence, where he punished him with body punches. During the breaks, Woodley attempted to counter with rights, but Usman dominated the frame.

Usman pushed forward in round four, and Woodley dropped to guard in search of a guillotine choke, but the challenger slipped out. The fight was eventually restarted on its feet, and soon after, a wild striking exchange ensued but Woodley took much more of the damage.

The challenger took Woodley down again in the final frame, and continued to land punches and elbows from the top. Woodley had no answers, and Usman cruised to the dominant, championship win. With the victory, Usman’s UFC record now stands at 10-0.
