Pro wrestling isn’t my thing, but something noteworthy is happening next weekend at WrestleMania: Ronda Rousey is headlining.
This is apparently a big deal, as no female has ever managed to get top billing at such an event.
Yeah, yeah, so what? Rousey left the MMA world on the heels of two crushing knockout losses. Why should we care? Well, you don’t have to care… but it’s worth noting that women wouldn’t be so prominent in the Octagon if not for Rousey’s efforts. So for that, she’ll forever deserve our respect, and forever be someone whose further accomplishments deserve some acknowledgment, too.
Anyway, here’s MMAFighting:
Ronda Rousey has a knack for making history.
The trailblazer who competed in the UFC’s first-ever women’s fight will now perform in the first-ever women’s main event of WrestleMania, it was announced Monday by WWE. Rousey will take on Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch in a triple threat match for the WWE Raw women’s title.
WrestleMania 35 takes place April 7 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and will air on the digital WWE Network streaming service. A crowd of more than 50,000 is expected.
