  • Johnny Gargano will face Adam Cole for the NXT Championship, in a 2 out of 3 falls match
  • Shayna Baszler will defend her NXT Women’s Championship against Io Shirai, Kairi Sane, and Bianca Belair in a fatal four-way match
  • Pete Dunne will defend his WWE UK Championship against WALTER
  • Velveteen Dream will defend his NXT North American Championship against Matt Riddle
  • War Raiders will defend their NXT Tag Team Championships against Dusty Rhodes Classic winners Aleister Black and Ricochet.

Speaking of NXT, Johnny Gargano made a splashing main roster debut, along with Tommaso Ciampa, Ricochet, and Aleister Black, some weeks ago. Sadly, due to Ciampa’s neck injury, the NXT Championship is now vacant, and as seen above, Adam Cole and Gargano will battle it out to see who will become the next NXT Champion come TakeOver: New York.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Johnny Gargano’s main roster status seems “uncertain” at this point. He hasn’t appeared on main roster television since Ciampa’s neck injury news hit, while Ricochet and Aleister Black have been enjoying tag matches on both SmackDown LIVE and Monday Night RAW as of late.

Seems as if Johnny Wrestling’s main roster storyline was tightly linked to Tommaso, and it very well could be a waiting game at this point: if Gargano wins that NXT title, he may need to remain in developmental brand for a little while, although there still is a good chance Adam Cole could become NXT’s next top guy.
