Earlier this week, we reported that a fourth staffer of Meghan Markle’s team had quit less than a year after she officially joined the British royal family. Though some are saying that this is proof that Meghan is difficult to work with, a royal expert has just revealed what he believes is the real reason behind so many of her staffers departing.

Yahoo News reported that Dickie Arbiter is a royal expert who was once a Press Secretary to Queen Elizabeth II and media manager to Prince Charles and Princess Diana, so he knows a thing or two about working with the royals. He explained that working for the royal family is so intense that there is lots of turnover among their staffers.

“I’d (had) job with them for five years. Any longer and I would’ve been burnt out,” Arbiter said.

When asked why so many of Meghan’s staffers have been quitting, Arbiter replied, “By outward appearances, it has been a bit of a ‘revolving door,’ (but) it just so happens with the Cambridge and Sussex households employees started around the same time.”

This explanation could be true, as both Prince William and Prince Harry saw their private secretaries leave within a few months of each other, with each of the men being in their positions for five and six years respectively.

Arbiter went on to say that another explanation for the staffers’ departures could be money.

“We work to earn good money and the private sector is a lot more lucrative,” he explained.

With four staffers leaving their posts in less than a year, rumors have been swirling that Meghan has a difficult personality that makes her hard to work for. Arbiter’s explanation makes it clear that this may not be the case at all, and that Meghan’s personality may have nothing to do with her staffers leaving. Regardless of why her staffers are quitting, we hope that Meghan is well on her way to finding a team of devoted staffers who are willing to stay on her team for quite some time!
