After Avengers: Endgame Trailer Drops, Mark Ruffalo Questions Whether or Not He Was Actually Fired!
Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk, continued the running gag between himself and the Russo brothers about whether or not he was fired after allegedly spoiling Avengers: Endgame.
Mark Ruffalo, who plays the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, continued the running gag between himself and the Russo brothers about whether or not he was fired after allegedly spoiling Avengers: Endgame.
Ruffalo took to Instagram following the release of the Avengers: Endgame trailer to ask, “So I wasn’t fired?”
For those who haven’t been following this story, Ruffalo was fired by the Russo brothers after an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. During his appearance Ruffalo allegedly spoiled the title of Avengers: Endgame as well as the ending of the film. However, Fallon bleeped all of Ruffalo’s alleged spoilers.
Following his appearance on the show, the Russo brothers, who are known to toy with fans, simply tweeted, “Mark, you’re fired.”
Mark, you’re fired.

Ruffalo would continue the gag, playing along with the idea he had been fired.
Guys… can we talk about this? https://t.co/PYe56UiUgO

Ruffalo and the Russo brothers would continue to play up the joke that Ruffalo was fired after they revealed an image announcing they had wrapped filming on Avengers: Endgame. Ruffalo would complain that the Russo brothers were spoiling their own movie!
This … and you fired me for a measly slip of the title?
Spoiler alert! https://t.co/5v19VZwTqp

The Russo brothers would double down and tell Ruffalo, “You’re still fired, Mark.”
You’re still fired, Mark.

Ruffalo’s Instagram post is the latest in the ongoing joke that has been used effectively to promote Avengers: Endgame. I expect the Russo brothers to chime in, and once again confirm that Ruffalo is still fired.
And while this whole back and forth between Ruffalo and the Russo brothers appears to be one big joke used to effectively market the film, it is possible that this might be Ruffalo’s last outing as the Hulk. It’s highly rumored that this will be Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.’s last outing as Captain America and Iron Man, it’s quite possible this might be the last time we see Ruffalo’s Hulk as well.
Kevin Feige promised that after Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios would be introducing different incarnations of the characters we already know. Marvel has a number of different Hulk-like characters they could introduce including Amadeus Cho and potentially She-Hulk.
What do you make of Ruffalo and the Russo brothers on going gag? Do you think it’s merely a fun joke to market the movie? Or do you think Ruffalo might actually be hinting he will be departing the Marvel Cinematic Universe following Avengers: Endgame?
