You know how thin the light-heavyweight division is right now? Jon Jones is back as champ, and his top challenger is… Anthony Smith. Which, you know, no offense to Smith, but that’s all we’ve got to be excited for?

Sadly, that means the rest of the 205-pound weight class is full of guys who are neither ready for Jones, or capable of moving the needle in terms of intriguing, compelling match-up. Case in point: the UFC on ESPN+3 main event between Thiago Santos and Jan Blachowicz. Both men are riding win streaks, but they also have losses to the likes of Dave Branch and Pat Cummins. So when the talk around this main event is that someone might earn a title shot with a win… Please shoot me know.

Anyway, for two full rounds these guys are tactical Muay Thai fighters, and it’s pretty even. Then comes Round 3, and when Blachowicz comes charging in, Santos drops him with a fade-away hook, and then hammerfists him into oblivion.

What does this mean? Does it mean that Santos will get the winner of Jones vs. Smith? Crikey.
