As talk about Conor McGregor and Donald Cerrone fighting fires around the internet, the latter has added a new twist to the speculation…

Cerrone started calling for a scrap with McGregor after he submitted Mike Perry last November, and then after he took out Alex Herandez last month, he did so again. That time, however, McGregor informed Cerrone he was up for the contest, and since then there’s been a lot of speculation that the fight will happen.

Well, Cerrone attended a Q&A for UFC 234 this weekend in Melbourne, and when he was asked about fighting the “Notorious” one, “Cowboy” said this (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“It’s definitely gonna be this year,” Cerrone said. “This summer, I think, right? Hey, Irish, Australian, American. F*ckin’ root for whoever you want. I’m going in there to fight. I love it, man. I don’t care — boo, cheer.”

There’s that, and when Cerrone was asked for a prediction, he relayed a second round victory via head kick knockout.

But, that’s not all. Recently Cerrone also posted this on Instagram:

Good News @thenotoriousmma looks like we get to fight for 155 Interim Title vs @properwhiskey vs @budweiser

Now of course, Cerrone could be just saying an interim title is in play when in fact it’s not. But, if that does happen, it would be pretty puzzling to say the least. After all, you would think any bout for an interim title would need to involve Tony Ferguson – the man who last held that belt and in fact, never lost it in a fight.
