Rob Gronkowski Joining WWE? + Sam Roberts Responds To Backlash

– Once again the New England Patriots will compete in the Super Bowl and one of their most charismatic superstars is Rob Gronkowski. He is no stranger to WWE fans, helping his friend Mojo Rawley win the Andre The Giant Battle several years ago at WrestleMania 31. Plus, he has been spotted at the WWE Performance Center and hinted at retirement from the NFL. Triple H spoke to Sports Illustrated about the NFL star possibly becoming a WWE superstar.

“Gronk has mentioned WWE before, that he loves it and said had so much fun doing it,” said Triple H. “I don’t know if it’s something he’d be seriously interested in, but that’s how the conversation started with Ronda Rousey, too. Certainly the door is open for him at WWE.”

Triple H would later compare Gronkowski to RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey, who has booked as unbeatable since joining WWE a little over a year ago. Who knows what will happen with Gronkowski as he still has another major appearance tonight in the form of the Super Bowl.

– On the NXT Takeover Phoenix pre-show, Sam Roberts mentioned how he thought Bianca Belair did not deserve a title shot against Shayna Baszler. The moment came off awkward with the rest of the panel and after the show Belair did not have kind words fort Roberts. Still, Roberts stands by his words.

“I had a crisis of conscious in that moment,” said Roberts during Not Sam Wrestling. “I felt like I was just going along with the show so I shared exactly how I felt in that moment. I know that Mark Henry has started a campaign saying that I owe Bianca Belair an apology. I certainly will not be apologizing to Bianca Belair because my opinion if my opinion.”

Belair would lose to Baszler at Takeover Phoenix, but delivered in the performance. Over time, Belair could become a real threat in NXT and eventually land on the main roster.

There might have been some heat on Roberts over the comments, but we will have to see if there is any backlash. If Roberts does not work on the pre-show panel for the Elimination Chamber, then maybe he should have quit.
