It takes a special kind of moron to go to a fight, serve as a cornerman, and end up with a fine and suspension. But Dillon Danis, Conor McGregor‘s bud and budding MMA fighter himself, somehow managed to be that kind of stupid!

Yesterday, the Nevada State Athletic Commission dropped the hammer on Danis for his role in the UFC 229 melee. You know the one I’m talking about – Khabib Nurmagomedov tapped out McGregor, then jumped into the audience to stomp on Danis.

Danis was, by all accounts, just talking trash. But apparently his brand of trashtalk was worth $7,500 to the commission (plus a suspension). Here’s MMAJunkie:

Dillon Danis’ punishment for his role in the infamous UFC 229 brawl involving Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor is finally official.

Nearly four months after the post-fight melee, the Nevada State Athletic Commission today ruled that Bellator’s Danis, who served as one of McGregor’s cornermen at UFC 229, has been suspended seven months.

The suspension is applied retroactively to the Oct. 6 event, meaning he’s eligible to return to competition May 6.

Additionally, Danis was fined $7,500 and must pay that amount in full before he can be licensed in Nevada.

You know, when all is said and done, McGregor made millions for his losing effort against Khabib, due in no small part to the heat he brought. Danis, on the other hand… Danis might have to wait some tables at Denny’s to be able to afford another MMA license.
