katy perry blackface

Pop star Katy Perry just became the latest liberal celebrity to find herself embroiled in a blackface controversy due to a shoe line of hers that many have claimed is racist.

TMZ reported that Rue Face Slip On Loafers and the Ora Face Block Heel Sandals from Katy Perry Collections are being pulled from stores after people claimed that two of the designs looked like blackface. The face shoes have two eyes, a nose, and a mouth on them, and they come in the colors black and beige. Many pointed out that the black shoes look a lot like blackface.

The face sandals have also been dubbed problematic, as fans say the black version looks like blackface as well.

Once the scandal broke, Perry desperately tried to backtrack by pulling the shoes from stores and releasing a statement in which she tried to separate herself from the scandal.

“The Rue and The Ora were part of a collection that was released last summer in 9 different colorways (black, blue, gold, graphite, lead, nude, pink, red, silver) and envisioned as a nod to modern art and surrealism,” Perry said. “I was saddened when it was brought to my attention that it was being compared to painful images reminiscent of blackface.”

This could not come at a worse time for Perry, as blackface scandals have been making headlines in the past few weeks ever since photos surfaced of Democratic Virginia Governor Ralph Northam wearing blackface decades ago.

Katy Perry will be protected by Democrats

Though Perry is undoubtedly in panic mode right now, she actually has very little to worry about. She will be given a free pass for any racist offense she commits because she is an outspoken Democrat who often speaks out to spread liberal propaganda. Perry campaigned hard for Hillary Clinton in 2016, and Democrats are undoubtedly hoping to use her again in this way in 2020, so they won’t let a racist incident ruin her career.

If Perry were a conservative, this scandal might destroy her. Since she is a liberal, however, she has absolutely no reason to fear. Unfortunately, this is the America that we live in right now.
