Like most fans and observers, Jon Jones sees great things in Israel Adesanya. But, if you’ve compared the fighting style of “The Last Style Bender” to that of “Bones”, the latter’s in disagreement with you.

Adesanya is preparing to face Anderson Silva this Saturday at UFC 234, in a fight that will advance the winner into a middleweight championship bout. In advance of the card, Jones spoke with the UFC News Twitter feed. When the light-heavyweight champ was asked about the idea that Adesanya is similar to him, Jones said the following (quote via MMA Mania):

“We have similar body types and we’re both black,” joked Jones. “And that’s about it. I don’t think we fight alike, I don’t think we fight similar. I do a lot of wrestling, heavy ground-and-pound, a lot of submissions. I strike in both stances. I feel like our games are very different..”

“But I do respect him, a lot. I think he is going to be a force to be reckoned with. He is great for the sport, great talker and he finishes fights. He is a very exciting young man.”

And there it is. Jones, meanwhile, is booked to fight Anthony Smith at UFC 235, March 2nd. Saturday’s UFC 234 card, meanwhile, is taking place in Melbourne, Australia.
