Big match John is expected to have a match at WrestleMania 35. Original rumors indicated that he would be facing new call-up Lars Sullivan, but it would appear the WWE has changed its plans. Now, John Cena could be facing another star from the main roster at the ‘Grandest Stage of Them All.”
Lars Sullivan Match Cancelled?
Before we reveal who John Cena could be facing at WrestleMania, let’s talk recent call-up Lars Sullivan. Recent reports indicated Sullivan suffered an anxiety attack in Orlando and returned to his home state Colorado.
Apparently, he did not communicate with the WWE for some time and that he is currently on a leave of absence. If the reports are accurate, this could be the reason why the match between Cena and Sullivan will not take place at WrestleMania.
Facing Drew McIntyre
While plans with Lars Sullivan have fallen in the proverbial water, there is some hope for an interesting WrestleMania match due to Drew McIntyre. Vince has always believed in Drew McIntyre, so the ‘Grandest Stage of Them All” could be a serious test for the Scottish psychopath.
Cena is known to test some of the up and comers in the ring. And not based solely on their in-ring ability, but also their mic work. There is no doubt in my mind that McIntyre has improved dramatically compared to his previous WWE run, but Big Match John might give him a run for his money.
Several wrestling websites report that the match between Cena and McIntyre will take place at WrestleMania. But, there is no official confirmation from the WWE yet. Cena is also filming another movie at the moment called ‘Playing with Fire‘. The movie is expected to be wrapped on April 1st, which should give John plenty of time to face McIntyre at WrestleMania.
To add fuel to the rumour fire, McIntyre recently stated he would love to face the “greatest superstar of all time.” Cena fits that description for many. McIntyre also stated:
“So that would be the biggest notch in my belt if that was to go through.”
Based on McIntyre’s statements, it could mean the match is a concept in the works at the moment. I for one, would love to see this happen. Dare I say, I’m more interested in this match than in the original one involving Lars Sullivan. Still, despite my personal preference, I hope Lars Sullivan can recover from his problems with anxiety. God knows, I’ve had a few of my own. So, get well soon Lars and we hope to see you on the main roster in the nearby future.
