Did Naomi and Carmella Get a Punishment Booking?

Nobody expected Naomi and Carmella to be the first team eliminated at Elimination Chamber, yet that is what happened yesterday! Naturally, the WWE Universe and wrestling journalists have a theory about their loss, believing the pair received a punishment booking from the WWE. Here’s the story.

Arrest and Affair

Neither Naomi nor Carmella had the best week. Naomi’s husband Jimmy got arrested after a confrontation with police officers in Detroit. And, Carmella was in the news over an alleged affair with married WWE commentator Corey Graves. Many people believe that their booking was therefore a punishment by the WWE.

I do not think Naomi’s booking was punishment whatsoever. Since Jimmy regained the tag team titles over the weekend and the fact that his arrest did not involve Naomi, even though she was present at the time. It is likely however, that the team got punished due to Carmella’s alleged indiscretions with Corey Graves.

Over the weekend, Graves’ wife Amy Polinsky accused her husband of having an affair with Carmella. She would later take to Instagram to post some inflammatory texts between herself and her husband, followed by a statement.

“This may be totally below me to do but I’m hurt. I’m sad. I’ve put 11 years into supporting a man to accomplish his dream only for him to punch me in the gut!”

She continued by highlighting further alleged problems during the relationship before adding: “The kicker is finding out that he’s been sleeping with one of my daughters role models all long. Carmella and Corey Graves I hope you guys are happy. I really do!”

Neither Graves or Carmella has publicly responded to the allegations at this point. It is believed Carmella and Naomi’s bad booking had something to do with the situation, so we will have to wait and see how it all plays out.

No Longer a Tag Team?

I think it is unlikely that Naomi and the Princess of Staten Island will continue as a tag team. Their first bout in the Elimination Chamber certainly reduced their credibility in the eyes of the WWE Universe. The pair could split up and get another tag team partner, or both could return to singles competition.
