Charlotte Injures Becky Lynch At Live Event (Video), War Games Note

– Once again, Becky Lynch was suspended in WWE storylines and her RAW Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 35 was taken away. The angle continued at Saturday’s live event from Alexandra.

As Charlotte battled Asuka, Becky would enter through the crowd like she has in the past to go after “The Queen” for stealing her WrestleMania match. Unlike the other times, Charlotte took advantage of the bad knee and went to town with a chair.

WWE commented on the incident, claiming that Becky reinjured her knee. Below is WWE’s statement and video of the incident.

During a SmackDown live event in Alexandria, La., Saturday night, Becky Lynch suddenly leaped over the barricade from the crowd and attacked Charlotte Flair as The Queen was facing SmackDown Women’s Champion Asuka. In the heated altercation that followed, an irate Charlotte re-injured Becky’s knee, going as far to attack it with a steel chair.

The exchange came on the heels of WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon’s ruling on Raw that Becky receive a 60-day suspension from in-ring action and that Charlotte replace her in the Raw Women’s Championship Match at WrestleMania 35 against Ronda Rousey. Then, 24 hours later on SmackDown LIVE, Flair further stirred the pot by informing the WWE Universe that she was dedicating her title match at The Showcase of the Immortals to Lynch.

Check back with WWE.com for more on Becky Lynch’s injury as it becomes available.

– WWE worked out some sort of deal with MLW for the rights and trademark of “War Games.” PWInsider said the deal was finalized a few months ago, but we are not sure what MLW received from WWE.

The late Dusty Rhodes came up with the the name War Games in the late 1980s and it was used in WCW until their demise in 2001. MLW took advantage of this and successfully filed for a copyright in 2007.

Since then, WWE has used the match on two occasions; with both being the main attraction for a pair of Takeover shows in the fall. It seems like War Games will be a yearly staple of NXT going forward and perhaps it crosses over to the main roster one day.
