AEW Superstar Debuts + First PPV Matches Announced

All Elite Wrestling has been a hot news item since even before the promotion became official. Today is no different, as the company made waves with their Las Vegas ticket party. This event was held to help promote the promotion’s first PPV, Double or Nothing, which takes place in Las Vegas later this year.

The first major news out of the event? The first public appearance of newly signed Kenny Omega. Omega was a hotly pursued free agent over the course of the last few months, and at one point it seemed WWE might make the superstar an offer he could not refuse. In the end, however, All Elite made sense for Kenny Omega. With his previous New Japan contract ended, Omega signed with All Elite and was free to appear.

The news did not stop there, however. Part of the point of his appearance was to hype the upcoming show. The best way to hype the show? Announce some matches. The biggest one being announced had to be Kenny Omega versus Chris Jericho. This match is arguably a dream match and one that WWE would have loved to see on one of it’s own major PPV. Instead, fans will get to see it, presumably headlining, All Elite Wrestling’s first-ever PPV.

In addition to the Omega-Jericho match, All Elite either announced, or strongly hinted at, several other matches. The lineup, as of today:

Omega versus Jericho

PAC versus “Hangman” Adam Page

The Young Bucks versus Pentagon Jr and Fenix

SoCal Uncensored (Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, Scorpio Sky) vs. Cima and two partners to be announced

With several other talent acquisitions announced during the event, other matches seem likely to be made official sooner than later, including:

Aja Kong vs. Yuka Sakazaki

Kylie Rae vs. Nyla Rose

Suffice it to say, this was a loaded event in Las Vegas. AEW is quickly establishing itself as an exciting brand to watch.
