Wrestling Legend Victoria Announces Her Retirement

Lisa Marie Varon, better known under her WWE wrestling name Victoria [1], has announced she will be retiring from the wrestling business at the end of 2019. To celebrate her career, let us take a look at her accomplishments.

First Woman To Compete in a Steel Cage Match and More!

Many believe that the steel cage match was first undertaken by the likes of Charlotte [2] and Sasha Banks, but in fact it was Victoria who was one of the first women to compete in such a match.

Victoria has fought some of the all-time greats and is considered one herself. One of her most iconic matches took place on Monday Night Raw in 2003, where she took on Lita [3] in a steel cage match.

Being one of the frontrunners in the women’s division, Victoria has been around for a long time. In fact, she celebrates her 48th birthday next month.

Victoria was one of the most memorable stars of the 2000s. In 2002, she defeated Trish Stratus [4] at Survivor Series in a hardcore match.

During her time in the WWE, Victoria gained the prestigious women’s championship twice. She is also rumored to have a spot in the Hall of Fame after her retirement.

Since leaving the WWE, Victoria has been quite active on the indie circuit. She joined TNA in 2009 and became a five-time Knockout champion. She then moved onto Ring of Honor and other indie promotions.

Victoria announced her retirement on Instagram with the following message:

“Hey Gang!!! Year 2019 will be my last year wrestling in the Squared Circle. An exciting new adventure is to come… ”

I do not believe we have seen the last of Victoria though. I am certain she will be lined up for the WWE Hall of Fame soon. However, if you would love to see Victoria wrestle for the last time, you will have to be quick!
