The Undertaker has been a constant at WrestleMania. Since the start of his career, he has only missed the “Showcase of the Immortals” once in the 2000s. He was recovering from a pectoral injury in 2000. Now, reports are circulating that The Undertaker might miss his first WrestleMania in 19 years!

Why Will He Be Absent From Wrestlemania?

The Undertaker

There are plenty of rumors as to why he might miss the event. The most likely one could be the fact that The Undertaker will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.

Recently, I reported that a leaked email could have revealed that The Undertaker will be added to the Hall of Fame this year. I also mentioned that this means it is likely he will retire from in-ring performances. Since he is also booked for a “spoken word” tour in the UK shortly after WrestleMania, it makes his retirement much more likely.

If The Undertaker is serious about his retirement, and if he gets inducted into the Hall of Fame this year, it could be a clear reason why he would miss WrestleMania.

Other Times The Undertaker Missed WrestleMania?

The Undertaker

The Undertaker has enjoyed a WWE career that spans over a whopping 28 years! Over the course of his career, he has only missed the biggest event of year twice. The first time was in 1994 (Wrestlemania 10) because he was suffering from back problems. And, the other time he missed the event was as mentioned above in 2000, where he was recovering from a torn muscle as well as a groin injury.

It’s Like Christmas Without Mince Pies

While The Undertaker has certainly deserved his retirement, there is something fundamentally sad about this rumor. WrestleMania without The Undertaker is like Christmas with no mince pies, McDonalds without a double cheeseburger, England without rain, KFC without chicken, a Rusev without Rusev Day… Well, you get the idea!

Despite his retirement, some part of me hopes he still gets some role within the company. We love to see The Undertaker, even if it is for the sake of nostalgia. Of course, nobody makes an entrance quite like The Undertaker.
