meghan mccain border secruity

As one of the only conservative voices on the panel of the ABC talk show “The View,” Meghan McCain often finds herself at odds with her cohosts. On Wednesday morning, McCain found herself having to fight her cohosts once again, this time over the issue of border security.

One day after President Donald Trump gave an address in which he declared there to be a national emergency at the border, McCain defied her cohosts to take a stand for border security. McCain hails from the border state of Arizona, so she arguably knows what the situation is like down at the border more than any of her cohosts do.

McCain began by citing statistics that make it clear that the majority of Americans agree with Trump that there is indeed a crisis at the border. (Meghan’s comments start at 6:13)

“So the crisis at the border, according to Morning Consult political poll conducted January 4th through 6th, found 79% of all voters in the country think that there is a crisis or problem with illegal immigration on the southern border,” she said.

The Daily Caller reported that McCain went on to slam Democrats like New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for demonizing ICE and CBP agents. Ocasio-Cortez became the latest lawmaker to bash these hardworking agents when she appeared on Rachel Maddow’s show following Trump’s address last night.

“When I see people like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez doing her own rebuttal…and she was basically demonizing border agents and I.C.E., the problem is whether liberals like it or not, border security is a big issue for Americans. It’s one of the major reasons why Trump got elected,” McCain explained.

Her cohosts were furious about this, with cohost Sunny Hostin claiming that most Democrats do want border patrol and that the situation at the border is instead a humanitarian crisis created by Trump. That’s when Joy Behar jumped in to say in agreement,  “There are still children who are kept in cages at the border. Two children have died. To me, that is a humanitarian crisis.”

At this point, McCain had enough of their nonsense.

“That actually, that policy was started under Obama which we said that numerous times,” said McCain. This is, of course, a completely true statement that Democrats love to ignore, and as her cohosts tried to protest, McCain said, “He started the policy that was put in place …”

Someone from the audience then screamed something to the stage, seemingly in anger, as much of “The View” audience is liberal. McCain, however, did not back down.

“Who’s yelling, ‘Tell it!’? I don’t know if you’re heckling me or supporting me, but I hope you’re supporting me,” she said. “It was a policy put in place under President Obama that President Trump decided to enact. So that policy was put in place … by the Obama administration.”

We, first of all, must applaud McCain for the patience she exhibits on this show every day. It can’t be easy having to deal with the nonsensical arguments of ignorant liberals like Joy Behar on a daily basis, yet McCain manages to do so with class every time.

We’re glad to see that, as usual, McCain was armed with facts when it came time for this segment about border security. The fact of the matter is that the majority of Americans DO want more border security, and we voted Trump in office in large part because we wanted someone who was going to take a tough stance at the border. In attempting to get his wall built, Trump is trying to fulfill the campaign promise that millions of Americans would like him to carry out.

In their anti-Trump hysteria, Democrats are ignoring the fact that just a few years ago, their top lawmakers were calling for tougher border security as well. Many of the border policies they love to blame on Trump were actually created by their precious Obama, a fact that they try their best to ignore.

Despite what liberals say, the majority of Americans support Trump’s tough tactics at the border.
