Luke Rockhold is preparing to make a run at light-heavyweight and the former middleweight champ hasn’t wasted any time calling out the division’s champ, Jon Jones.

Rockhold has been talking about moving up to 205 for a while now. In fact, even before he was knocked out by Yoel Romero last February, Rockhold said he would be moving up soon. But, then he was booked for a rematch with Chris Weidman in November, before an injury forced him to withdraw.

Well, more recently Rockhold announced he’s coming for the UFC’s light-heavyweights and while talking to TMZ Sports, the outspoken fighter said this (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“The last couple years, I’ve been compromising myself so much to get down to ’85, and my body just falls apart in training camp the last few weeks,” Rockhold said. “(Being at 205) just feels right. I feel healthy. I feel comfortable, and I’m excited to take down these light heavyweights. I just don’t see a lot there.”

“I thought he (Jones) looked beatable,” Rockhold said while discussing Jones’ win over Alexander Gustafsson last month. “He’s good on the feet. He’s tactical. He adjusts, and he fights to his advantages. I like my advantages vs. his.”

“Hold tight – I’m coming, Princess.”

How about that? Now, until we see Rockhold fight and take out one of the UFC’s top 205’ers, there’s not going to be a lot of buzz about a possible showdown with Jones. But, if Rockhold does do the former, he very well could face Jones sometime in 2019. Provided, of course, Jones remains champ…
