John Cena Vs Lars Sullivan WM 35 Scrapped

– With the recent situation going on with Lars Sullivan and his debut, it seems that the WWE needed to make some changes as it relates to Wrestlemania 35 plans with him and John Cena. The rumor mill had been running rapid that the WWE was planning a John Cena versus Sullivan match for their flagship event, but this apparently might have been scrapped.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Melzer, John Cena’s injury update last night on RAW was all part of a storyline, which initially was supposed to involve Lars Sullivan. As per Meltzer, he was under the impression that Sullivan was originally slated to be the reason behind Cena’s injury, not only making a huge debut on last night’s RAW, but also taking out John Cena in the process, and launching a massive storyline between the two men heading into Road to Wrestlemania season.

This did not happen, so it seems questionable as to whether or not the Sullivan versus Cena match will occur come WM 35. Still, plans could change leading up to the flagship event, so only time will truly tell.

Barnburner’s Joe Peisich chimed in during his No Hold’s Barred podcast on some potential Royal Rumble surprise entrants and stated that there is a strong possibility that NXTer Velveteen Dream will participate in the men’s match. It’s important to note that just because Dream might be a part of the bout, doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll get an official main roster call up. While some NXTers have been called up after their Royal Rumble appearance, there have been others who simply just participate in the match and then head back to NXT.

Meanwhile, over with the ladies, WWE Hall of Famers (a.k.a. Team Bestie) both made appearances last year during the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble, as well as participating in the WWE all-women’s pay-per-view Evolution. For fans of the duo, Peisich notes that both women will most likely appear once again during this Sunday’s Royal Rumble match.
